The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) was created by the Texas Legislature as part of House Bill 3 to provide a realistic pathway for top-performing teachers to earn higher salaries and help retain and attract highly effective teachers.

Lockhart ISD's TIA plan was approved by the Texas Education Agency in August 2021. This plan will provide LISD teachers who meet certain criteria the opportunity to receive up to an additional $20,000 , beginning in September 2023.

We are proud to have some of the best teacher in Texas right here in Lockhart ISD, and this plan will help to ensure we can continue to retain and recruit top talent.

— Mark Estrada, Superintendent of Schools

Lockhart ISD will spend the 2021-2022 school year gathering teacher performance data to submit to Texas Tech University, TEA's partner in this statewide project. By April 2023, TEA will notify Lockhart ISD of final designation and allotment. By September 2023, funds will be issued to eligible teachers.

Lockhart ISD's District Advisory Committee (DAC) was tasked with developing the initial project plan, including a diverse group of elementary and secondary teachers, principals, parents, community members, and district administrators.
