Pre-Kindergarten Information
Pre-Kindergarten is for all qualifying children who will be 4-years old on or before September 1 of the current school. Completing online registration does not guarantee your child will be accepted into pre-kindergarten.
To be eligible for enrollment in a pre-kindergarten class, a child must be at least 4 years old on or before September 1 and:
- is unable to speak and comprehend the English language; or
- is educationally disadvantaged (which means a student eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program... guidelines can be found here); or
- is homeless, as defined by 42 U.S.C. Section 1143a, regardless of the residence of the child, of either parent of the child, or of the child's guardian or other person having lawful control of the child; or
- is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; or
- is the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or
- is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care) following an adversary hearing held as provided by Section 262.201, Family Code
- is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as: a peace officer under Section 3106.002, Government Code; a firefighter under Section 3106.003, Government Code; or an emergency medical first responder under Section 3106.004, Government Code
Be prepared for one of the following documents for review:

2. TANF letter
3. SNAP letter with EDG number
Required Documents for New to District Students
1. Certified copy of birth certificate
2. Proof of residence (copy of current utility bill, current lease, or mortgage statement)
3. Student Social Security Card
4. Parent/Guardian drivers license or photo ID
5. Proof of immunization
Tip: Scan or take a picture of documents before beginning registration process so they can be attached to the application.
New to District Online Registration
Is your family brand new to Lockhart ISD? Welcome to the Lockhart Lions family!
You can register your child by following these steps.
- Parent/Guardian must submit a New Student Enrollment Account request by clicking the button below.
- Once an email confirmation has been received, the parent/guardian must complete the New Student Online Enrollment.
- Parents may upload the required documents within the online enrollment process.
- Click the button below to begin.
LISD Family Adding New Student
Are you already an LISD family, but you need to register a student brand new to the district? Use your LISD Skyward Family Access account to register a new student.
- Click the register button below to login to your Skyward Family Access account.
- Select the New Student Online Enrollment tab to complete the registration.
Tip: Click Forgot your Login/Password? on the Skyward Family login page if you do not know your account information.
Returning LISD Students
The TEA (Texas Education Agency) requires all students to register every school year. You are considered a returning Lockhart ISD student if you were enrolled in Lockhart ISD on the last day of school. This TEA required registration is done by updating your child’s information in Skyward Family Access along with participating in the district's back to school activities.
Submitting proof of residence (copy of current utility bill, current lease, or mortgage statement) is a required step in the process for students who are changing campuses or who have moved. You can use a mobile device to capture a picture of the document.
1. Login to Skyward Family Access
- Use your parent account to login, not the student account.
- Click Forgot your Login/Password? to reset the password.
2. Click the "Online Registration for Returning Students" button.
3. Follow the online directions to update information.

NOTE: The student will show his/her 2023-2024 grade level until the district rolls over to the new year in mid-July.
Student Transfers
Lockhart ISD Student Transfer Information 2024-2025
New Out-of-District Transfers
At this time Lockhart ISD is experiencing high enrollment numbers and will not consider new out-of-district transfer requests for the 2023-2024 or 2024-2025 school year.
Exceptions will be allowed based on the following:
If the new out-of-district request is the sibling of an APPROVED out-of-district transfer student from the 2023-2024 school year, an out-of-district transfer request will be considered.
Children of Lockhart ISD employees will be prioritized for consideration.
Campus-to-Campus Transfers
The District has determined that all active campus-to-campus transfers or placements for the 2023-2024 school year will remain in effect for the 2024-2025 school year.
Exceptions will be allowed based on the following:

Proof of Residence
Lockhart ISD requires proof of residence for the following student who is:
- enrolling for the first time
- a current student moving to a new address
- entering kindergarten
- entering 6th grade
- entering 9th grade.
To meet this standard, the parent/guardian will need to provide one (1) of the following types of documents:
- Current utility bill tied directly to the residential address (electric, water, landline phone or cable/satellite service)
- Current rental/lease agreement
- Mortgage statement
Cell phone bills are not considered a residential utility.
If you do not have proof of residence in your name, the Lockhart ISD Assurance of Bona Fide Residence form must be completed by the homeowner or lessor stating that you reside with them or on their property, along with a copy of their current utility bill.
Home School UIL Participation
Texas House Bill 547 gives school districts the option to allow homeschooled students residing within district boundaries to participate in UIL activities as a member of the district's teams/activities/events.
To apply for your homeschooled student to participate in Lockhart ISD UIL activities, CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT THE ONLINE FORM.
Lockhart ISD will allow these students to participate beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, provided they meet the following guidelines:
Academic Eligibility:
- Provide proof of residency.
- All homeschooled students must demonstrate grade-level academic proficiency on any nationally recognized, norm-referenced assessment instrument, such as the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, Stanford Achievement Test, California Achievement Test, or Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills. LISD will accept these assessment results if they are administered and reported by a third party. Results must be current meaning within the previous school year and should be submitted no later than the end of the first six weeks grading period of the participating year.
- In order to maintain academic eligibility, the homeschooled family must periodically (in accordance with LISD's grading calendar) provide written verification to LISD stating that the student is receiving a passing grade in each course or subject.
Participation Requirements:
- A homeschooled student must declare intention to participate in a
- sport/event/activity prior to August 1st.
- A homeschooled student must participate in all required activities of the
- sport/event/activity they are a part of, unless otherwise approved by the appropriate coach or UIL sponsor. This includes participation in all in-season and offseason (year-round) school class-period practices, workouts, and/or meetings.
- A homeschooled student must abide by the rules and regulations as provided in the LISD Student Code of Conduct.
- The homeschooled student must ride district-provided transportation to games/events.
Restrictions:
- A homeschooled student is not permitted to participate in a sport/event/activity during the remainder of any school year during which the student was previously enrolled in a public school (LISD and/or other public district).
- A homeschooled student is not permitted to participate in more than one athletic period during the day. (UIL rule for all enrolled students.)
