LISD selects Nicole Dean as new chief financial officer 

Lockhart Independent School District announced the selection of Nicole Dean as its new chief financial officer.

Dean currently serves as the director of accounting at Judson Independent School District, where she has served for nine years. There, she helped develop the district’s $210M operating budget while working closely with department directors, principals, and members of the superintendent’s cabinet. In a district of 23,000 students, 4,000 employees, and 30 campuses, she also partners with principals, directors, and campus staff to maintain all of the budgets throughout the district. She is certified as a Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) Registered Texas School Business Administrator. 

During her time at Judson ISD, she has also provided leadership outside of the district as the treasurer of the Alamo Area Association of School Business Officials. 

Previous to joining Judson ISD, Dean served as an accountant and district investment officer at Comal ISD for three years. She assisted in the development of the district’s $137M operating budget and monitored all general fund accounts, including state programs. She additionally provided support in preparing for the annual audits. 

Dean earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Houston at Clear Lake and has completed 21 hours towards a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University in San Antonio. 

“I am excited to join the Lockhart ISD team and look forward to serving the district and the community in a way that demonstrates good stewardship, transparency, and support for our students and staff,” said Dean after accepting the position. “I have a son who is three years old, and I am proud that he will be a Lockhart Lion. I look forward to making Lockhart our home!”

She is a great fit for Lockhart ISD.” 

Dean will officially join the district leadership team in February 2021.
