Superintendent Mark Estrada announced the promotion of Shelly Weber to serve as the new health and wellness coordinator for Lockhart Independent School District.

Weber is a registered nurse with 23 years of experience in school nursing, medical and surgical nursing, and maternal and child health nursing and education. She served the last eight years in LISD, working as the nurse at Clear Fork Elementary, later becoming the nurse at Lockhart High School, where she has worked since 2012.

In her new role, Weber will coordinate the district’s health and wellness program, supervising and coordinating the provision of all nursing services throughout the district. She will additionally oversee the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program at Lockhart High School, a career and technical education program that prepares students for CNA certification. Weber will also coordinate the district’s School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), a group of staff, parents, and community members focused upon health and wellness within LISD.

Weber earned the distinction as “Best Nurse in Caldwell County” from the Lockhart Post-Register in the “Best of Caldwell County” Readers’ Choice Awards in 2013 and 2017.

"I am so excited to continue to care for the health needs of the students of Lockhart ISD as I transition to this new nursing leadership role," said Weber. “This is an opportunity to have a larger impact on students in Lockhart.”

Superintendent Estrada added, “We are very proud of the promotion of Ms. Weber. With her tremendous experience, we are confident in her ability to ensure excellent care for all of our students.”

Weber earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baylor University.
