Superintendent Susan Bohn announced Alex Bothe as the new head volleyball coach for Lockhart High School.
Bothe most recently coached at New Braunfels High School as the varsity assistant volleyball coach and junior varsity volleyball and softball coach. Bothe additionally coaches club volleyball, currently coaching Strikers Volleyball, which she has coached for three years.

Bothe graduated from Seguin High School where she played volleyball and softball. As a three-year letterman on the volleyball team, she helped take the team to their first State appearance in over 30 years. Bothe then went on to play volleyball at the collegiate level at Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama.

While in college, she was a two-year captain, two-time conference player of the week and earned First Team All-Southern Athletic Association Volleyball Honors her senior year. As a four-year starting outside hitter, she etched her name in the BSC record book as the fourth player in program history to surpass the 1,000 kill and 1,000 dig marks.  During her time in Alabama, she also began her coaching career with an Alabama Juniors club team.

Bothe graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Collaborative and Special Education

“The district looks forward to seeing the volleyball program continue to grow with Coach Bothe,” said Executive Director for Athletics & UIL Activities Sheila Henderson. Bothe added, "I am very excited to join the Lockhart family and look forward to the challenges of building this program to new heights and setting our team up for success!"

Bothe joins a group of other new and current Lockhart ISD staff members in new leadership positions for the 2017-2018 school year. Bothe begins July 24.
