LHS Boys Cross Country State Qualifiers


Congratulations to our 2018 UIL 5A Boys State Qualifiers!!! #LockhartLeading Boys Cross Country had an outstanding performance today!

The team finished fourth place at the 2018 UIL 5A Regional Meet, held on the campus of Texas A&M at Corpus Christi. With the determination and resilience of this team, they qualified for a trip to the UIL 5A State Championships!

The Lions will be making their 1st appearance in nine years, but the program's 22nd appearance under Head Coach Scott Hippensteel.

The team accomplished a goal they set for themselves at the beginning of the season. River Bailey led his team with a top ten finish by placing 6th. Freshman sensation, Anthony Parra, finished 23rd as the teams second runner to cross the finish line. Ian Flores followed, placing 25th; David Mendez-Serrato, 30th; Leo Sandoval, 36th; Henry Gomez, 37th; and Johnny Castanon, 44th.

There were 24 complete teams and 186 runners representing well over 40 schools. Coach Hippensteel said, “I am extremely pleased with how our guys competed. I am excited for this team to be advancing to State.”

The UIL State meet will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at Round Rock Old Settlers Park.
