LOCKHART, TX - Lockhart Independent School District’s Business Office has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility—earning continued recognition for excellence in financial management and reporting.
For the 20th consecutive year, the LISD Business Office has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). This prestigious honor underscores the department’s dedication to the highest standards of governmental accounting and financial reporting, reaffirming its position as a model of excellence in public education finance.
The CAFR, awarded for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, reflects the department’s continued commitment to a spirit of full disclosure. The district’s comprehensive annual financial report underwent a rigorous evaluation by an impartial panel and was found to meet the GFOA’s demanding criteria for clarity, accuracy, and transparency.
In addition to this recognition, the department also earned a Superior Rating for the 23rd consecutive year under the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). This state distinction measures the quality of financial management practices and ensures that public school funds are used effectively to support instruction and student achievement.
The Business Office was formally recognized by Superintendent Mark Estrada and the Board of Trustees at the December 15 Board meeting. Superintendent Estrada said, “These continued recognitions reflect our finance team’s steadfast dedication to excellence and integrity. Their work ensures that every financial decision we make supports our mission-investing in our students, our staff, and the future of the Lockhart community.”
