Join Lockhart ISD as we welcome the district's new Girls Athletics Coordinator and High School Head Volleyball Coach, Shelly Jones-Herzog! Coach Jones-Herzog will be celebrated with a welcome ceremony at 6:00 p.m. this Wednesday, May 11, at the Lockhart High School Gym (906 Center St).

Jones-Herzog is entering her 11th year of coaching and teaching in public education. Most recently, she served as Buda Johnson High School's Head Volleyball Coach since 2019, where her team competed in one of the toughest 5A districts in the state. In 2015, she served as the Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach for the State Champion team at Dripping Springs High School. She has also coached a district champion team at Cleburne High School and was awarded Coach of the Year at Burnet High School in 2018.

A Lockhart native, Jones-Herzog was a four-year volleyball starter, multi-sport varsity letterman, 1st-team all-district and academic all-district athlete, and MVP athlete during her time at Lockhart High School.

Jones-Herzog played collegiate volleyball at Southern Arkansas University on a full-ride scholarship. She has a Master of Arts in Athletic Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Education, which plays a significant role in her background in coaching and providing athletes with knowledge and experience to prepare for life after high school.
