Career and Technology Education

Lockhart ISD is proud to offer Career and Technical (CTE) programs to 6th - 12th grade students to prepare them for success. The district is committed to refining and aligning program offerings at Lockhart Junior High School and Lockhart High School to support student interests and labor market needs. We welcome community and business involvement in advising CTE programs to ensure we remain closely connected to the regional and state needs, enabling businesses to "custom order" their workforce through partnerships with our school district. Lockhart ISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) Mission Statement

Lockhart ISD CTE believes all students should be provided the opportunity to be guided to success through exceptional programs of study that lead to high-wage, in-demand post-secondary careers, led by dedicated educators and community partners.

LISD CTE Goals

1. Build equitable programs of study that scaffold all CTE students to work-based learning, certifications, and articulated credit.

2. Strengthen career guidance for all CTE students.

LISD uses Xello K - 14, an online program that helps students create a successful future through self-knowledge, exploration, and planning. This supports age-appropriate career exploration, CTE program recruitment, personal graduation plans, and scheduling.

3. Support End of Course (EOC) success for all CTE students

LISD uses "The Fundamental 5" research-based strategies to create meaningful learning environments. There are five critical practices that are the core of highly effective instruction, which includes:

Work in the "Power Zone"
Recognize & Reinforce
Write Critically

4. Provide strategic professional development for CTE staff.

LISD has CTE Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to provide professional development for CTE staff to ensure following the appropriate scope and sequence, using backwards design to plan with the end in mind, and effectively using "The Fundamental 5" to ensure effective instruction.
