Long-Range Facilities Planning

As others learn about the advantages and opportunities we enjoy as Lockhart residents, our community continues to grow and prosper. As a fast-growth school district, Lockhart ISD monitors that growth with a professional demographer, and the LISD Board and leadership team partner to review the growth, assess the needs, and plan for the future.

In addition, the school district advertised a "Request for Qualifications" to identify a partner with the expertise to help evaluate the adequacy of our current facilities. In March 2019, the LISD Board of Trustees approved the selection of VLK Architects to serve as that partner. Together, we have launched a long-range facility planning process to assess our facilities for adequacy, engage our community to discuss growth and identify priorities, and plan for the district’s next steps to ensure high quality learning  for our growing student population.

As leaders, we know when we engage the people we serve, we learn more. When we learn more, we make better decisions. LISD formed the Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee, comprised of diverse members with varying insight and perspectives, to help with us plan thoughtfully and intentionally to best utilize our current facilities and manage growth. Committee members were nominated and selected by the LISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Mark Estrada. We are grateful to the committee members who have agreed to serve and look forward to learning a lot from them.

On this webpage, you will see information added throughout the process. Stay tuned! In the meantime, if you have any questions, please email
