Bond & VATRE 2022
On August 15, 2022, Lockhart ISD's Board of Trustees called for a $71 M bond election with no school tax rate increase and a Voter Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE) for November 2022.
If approved, the Bond would provide for the purchase of land for elementary school #6, the construction of elementary school #6, and a new wing at Lockhart High School to support 500 more students.
If the Penny Put-Back is approved through a Voter Approved Tax Rate Election, the school tax rate would still decrease by .74 pennies, but the penny put back into the maintenance and operations school tax rate would generate approximately $1 million in additional funding for school safety enhancements and competitive teacher pay.
