Our District
Building a Legacy of Excellence
Lockhart ISD approximately 6,100 students in 300-square-miles in Central Texas. We are located on State Highway 130 on the edge of one of the fastest growing regions of Texas in a very supportive community with charm and character, 30 minutes southeast of Austin and 1 hour northeast of San Antonio.
Designated as a “District of Innovation” in 2017, the district is on an exciting trajectory for higher student achievement and enriched opportunities for success. In recent years, our district has experienced significant and record student growth as families from surrounding areas move to Lockhart . We opened the district’s 5th elementary school, Alma Brewer Strawn Elementary, in August 2016, and completed a major renovation and expansion of Lockhart HIgh School in August 2017.
Our 9 campuses include an early education pre-kindergarten campus, 5 elementary schools, a junior high school serving grades 6-8, a self-paced program high school, and a comprehensive, 5A high school. Our schools offer students extensive opportunities to experience and find what they love as learners, including a full range of extracurricular and co-curricular activities and dual credit college and advanced placement courses. Our LISD Visionary Instructional Planning (LISD VIP) initiative leverages technology in the district to boost student learning and prepare them for a world and workforce experiencing a rapidly-evolving technological revolution.
At LISD, we aggressively recruit highly qualified and effective staff, giving them support and resources so that they are equipped to provide the best possible experience for our students. We offer competitive pay and benefits for our staff in a supportive environment and community, one in which servant leadership is a priority, expectations for performance are high, and high quality staff are valued.
