What Parents Need to Know About 
Navarro Elementary Nurse's Clinic
 

  Staffing Hours

The clinic is staffed with a Licensed Vocational Nurse with twenty-nine years of experience in the health field.  She is on duty from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (lunch is from 12:45 p.m. until 1:15p.m.).  The clinic phone number is 398-0701

Medications

As parents, you must fill out and return a Consent Form to the nurse before any  prescription or over-the-counter medications can be dispensed.

   The prescription medication must be in a pharmacy labeled bottle with the correct  child's name and medication on it.  The over-the-counter medications must be in their original packages.

  Please remember that the nurse cannot give any Tylenol to your child before 10:00 a.m.or after 2:30 p.m.  This rule is for your child's safety.  If you call the nurse and ask  her to give your child a medication before 10:00 a.m., that is permissible.

Reasons to Call the Parent

If your child has a severe injury, such as a blow to the head or a possible broken bone,  you will be notified to pick him/her up.

  If your child has a temperature of 100.3o  or above, vomits more than once, or has diarrhea, you will be notified to pick him/her up. 

Immunizations

  All children enrolled in our school must have the following immunizations:
1.  Their 4th tetanus after their fourth birthday. 
2.  Their 3rd polio after their fourth birthday.
3.  Their 1st measles, mumps, and rubella after their 1st birthday and a 2nd measles before  starting school.
4.  Completed their Hepatitis B vaccine (three in the series) before starting school or for Fourth and Fifth grader before they go to Jr. High.
5.  Varicella vaccine or Chickenpox disease before they start school and for Fourth and Fifth grader   before they go to Jr. High.

Please notify the clinic if your child has any special needs.


The nurse takes a special interest in your child as an individual and wants to provide the best care for him/her.  She also feels that children should be in school as much as possible and tries to keep them in the classroom if at all possible.  She will work with the teachers and parents to keep your child as healthy as possible.  If you have any concerns or  information for the nurse, please call or drop by her office.
