ABOUT NAVARRO ELEMENTARY

 
Navarro Elementary houses about 430students, 21 classroom teachers and 16 other professional support staff.  We are one of four elementary schools. Lockhart is about 30 miles south of Austin in Caldwell County.  Navarro  Elementary (get map) is in the southern part of town, across from the High School and on the same block as Clearfork Elementary. 
Navarro is a great place to go to school! 

 
School Hours: 7:50a.m.-3:20p.m.
All visitors and volunteers must sign in at the office.

Programs - Accelerated Reading (AR), Content Mastery (CM), Tutoring, Talented & Gifted (TAG), Music, Active Education (AE), Technology, Library, Learning Specialists, Bi-Lingual, After School Program, and Special Education Resource.

Lions Roar is a good behavior reward program held every 9 weeks for the children who qualify.

Extracurricular Activities:  Student Council,  School Newspaper, 5th Grade Choir, Safety Patrol, and a Running Club.

Grading Policy: Each grade level must have a minimum of 3 test grades and at least 8 daily grades per nine week period except for 1st and 2nd.
           1st Grade: They teach and practice all week, test on Fridays and average those    
                                 test grade for the final grade. All work during the week competed and  
                                  practiced for Friday test master.
            2nd Grade: Same as above; For 1st and 2nd a miminum of 10 independent test grades
            3rd Grade: 34% Tests, 56% Daily Work, 10% Homework
            4th Grade: 66% Homework and Daily Grades (at least 8 taken)
                                 34% Test Grades (usually at least 3 taken)
             5th Grade: 66% Daily Work (at least 15 taken), 34% Tests (at least 3 taken)
