of Spring Break, the Ms. Porter is declaring a library fine holiday.
If you turn in your overdue book or flash drive today or tomorrow you
receive a 50% discount on your library fines! Extremely large fines may be
negotiable, so run by the library to see Ms. Porter.

The Lockhart
Roaring Lion Indoor Drumline will be competing in the Texas Color
Guard Circuit percussion festival, Saturday March 13, 9:30 am at Bowie
High School!

Juniors - the Junior Class
will be holding another bake sale to raise money for the prom. This
Saturday, March 13th at 10:30 am bring your homemade baked goods to
Smitty's market. You may also bring them to Ms. Hardaway or Ms. Alan on
Friday. Don't forget that bringing baked goods earns you points towards a
free prom ticket!

Do you want to
be a 2010-2011 Lockhart High School Cheerleader or Mascot? Come to the
front office to sign up and get your information sheet. Your parents MUST
attend an information session either Thursday March 11th or Tuesday March
23rd at 6:30 pm in the Conference Center. See Ms. Hardaway in room 901 or Ms. Wood in room 610 if
you have any questions.

The Theater
Action Project (a non-profit Austin youth-based creative arts
organization) will be coming to Lockhart High School 3/30 at 7 pm to
perform their original production "Perhaps Tomorrow" a play about rumors,
friendship and the courage to make a difference. This will be free and
open to the public. Please join us! Any questions please see Ms. Peters in
the CIS office.

Monday night, the
Varsity Boys Soccer team did an outstanding job and tied an undefeated
Manor team 0-0. The boys final district game is this Friday against
Del Valle. Come out and support your Lion Soccer team!

Attention all
Caldwell County Livestock Show Participants: Thank you notes are due to
the Extension office NO LATER THAN MARCH 26th. Make sure they have stamps
on them and are ready to go by then or you will not get paid.

Deadline for the
May 1st SAT test is March 25. There is only one more ACT & SAT testing
administration after these tests. Both of those are in early June.
Juniors, register for the SAT & ACT if you are considering a 4-year
college after high school. Remember that juniors & seniors on Free or
Reduced Lunch need to check with Ms. Andrews or Ms. Hess for fee-waivers.

High school junior and
senior students who are eligible for the free or reduced lunch programs
may qualify for up to one fee waiver for the PSAT test (given in October),
two fee waivers for the SAT test, and two fee waivers for the ACT test.
Students who use a fee waiver for the SAT and/or ACT tests are eligible
for up to four college admission fee waivers to participating colleges and
universities. Check with Ms. Hess in the LHS College & Career Center for
more information.

The 2nd annual Talent Show will be held
April 21st in the Lockhart High School Cafetorium at 6 pm. Those
interested in trying out need to see Miss Wellborn in room 703 by April
1st. Tryouts will be held on the 5th and 6th of April. The show is brought
to you by Art Club, who has some great prizes for the winners!!!

Juniors, Texas A&M is hosting a summer program for high
school students who want to be future teachers. You must be a junior
and in the top 25% of your class. The program is held June 13-16. Register
at

for the web address.

Juniors, If you are currently enrolled in ACC
classes, you will have forms to complete in March for summer and fall ACC
classes. If you are not taking ACC classes currently, you have forms and
testing to complete by March to take ACC classes this summer or fall.
Those who tested last year still have required forms to complete. See Ms.
Hess if you have any questions.

The Lockhart Athletic Booster Club is selling
embroidered booster jackets. 100% of the profits from the sale of
these jackets will be used to purchase equipment for our Lockhart High
School boys' and girls' athletic programs. Please visit our website at

will meet on
the
2nd Monday of each month at 6:00 pm in the Conference Center.

Students, if you're needing a TEA
Verification of Enrollment (VOE) form
go by the front office and sign up no later
than Wednesday of each week. The form will be ready for you to pick up on
Thursday from Mrs. Ortiz. A TEA form is required to obtain a driver's
permit, a driver's license, or license renewal if you are under the age of
18. Students must be in attendance for at least 90% of the days each class
is offered and students must be cleared of all fees and fines before
receiving a TEA form. There will be no exceptions. This information is

No one is allowed to leave campus without
an ID! Remember: only Seniors are allowed to leave campus for lunch!

Students:
Just a reminder that you must wear your student ID and it must be
visible on a lanyard. The ID's are necessary so we know who is on our
campus.

Tutorials
take place Monday through Friday from 7:30 -7:55 am and from 3:36 - 4:00
pm in all High School classrooms. Teachers stay later and get here
earlier if needed; some teachers tutor during their lunch period.
-
Students: It is your responsibility to
turn in your note from the doctor or parent/guardian when you return to
school from an absence. If you
do not turn in your note, the absence will be counted as unexcused.
Students who accumulate 3 or more unexcused absences will be issued a
warning letter and if the unexcused absences persist, the student and
parent/guardian will be required to attend truancy court. Students:
remember to turn your notes in to Mrs. Wilhelm as soon as you return
from an absence. Her office is next to the counseling center. Turn this
note in before class starts. You will not be excused from class to go
turn a note in. No one will ask you for your note. It is your
responsibility to turn your note in to the Attendance Office.

Parents: Family Access
is a web-based application that provides parents/guardians direct access
to information such as grades, class schedules, attendance, and
discipline issues for their students. To use Family Access, you must:

Seniors: Scholarship deadlines are coming up:
Bluebonnet Electric – March 19th, Scott Comstock Memorial – March 26th,
ACC –College Connection – April 1, Colt Miranda Soccer – April 1st,
Lockhart Athletic Booster Club – April 1st. Applications are still
available at the Career Center.

Seniors! If you are planning on attending the senior day
at Austin’s Park April 16th, don’t forget to sign-up and pay your $5.00
reservation with Ms. Capello in the Counseling Center before school,
after school, or at lunch…NOT during class. The last day to sign-up is
Friday, March 12th.

The local scholarship application for the Texas
Democratic Women of Caldwell County is available at the Career Center.
This scholarship is open to all LHS high school seniors.

The Colt Miranda Scholarship applications are
available on the Career Center Counter.

The Lockhart Athletic Booster Club would like remind all

Seniors, If you have not completed your college
admission applications, it is time to do so! Double check for college
admission and scholarship deadlines. To send required LHS transcripts, see
Ms. Taylor. Financial Aid Workshops are scheduled at LHS in February and
March, so start collecting income information to complete the FAFSA at
your earliest opportunity.

Bluebonnet Electric has released scholarship
information. If you live in a household that have Bluebonnet Electric
service, you may be eligible to apply for $2000 scholarships to attend
2-year college, 4-year college, trade and technical schools. Deadlines
range from February 19th – March 19th. Apply for any of these at
www.bluebonnetelectric.coop. See Ms. Hess with questions.

after Key Club.

community service organization that strives to help our home, school and
community. Key Club meets on Mondays at 3:45 pm in the
library.

Student Council meetings will be Monday evenings at
6:30 pm in room 105 and Tuesdays after school at 3:45 pm in room 105.

FFA will meet on the third Monday of each month at 7
pm in the conference center.
