General Announcements:

  • All teachers and staff are invited to support the Lionette Dance Team at their 10th annual spring show, Lionette Legacy. The show is May 9 and 10 (Friday and Saturday) at 7:30 PM in the high school Lions Gym. The team has had an outstanding year and looks forward to showcasing many different styles and routines. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door or from a Lionette. Thank you for your support!

  • All students taking a summer class need to check on which books you will need for you summer classes. You can do this by looking at what is listed for your individual class at the ACC Bookstore: www.austincc.bkstore.com.  Put in your specific course information to see which books you will need to buy. You are not limited to the ACC Bookstore to purchase your books….check the college book stores in San Marcos, or wherever you wish. You should already be registered for your summer classes. See Ms. Hess with questions.

  • Students with attendance folders for tutoring are reminded to continue getting their sessions signed by their teachers. See Ms. Hoffman if you have questions.

  • Students interested in attending summer school to recover a credit may come by the counseling office to pick up an application. Summer school will be from 8:30 to 11:30 am, June 9 through June 27. Applications are due by May 28, 2008. Please turn in your application to the counseling center.

  • Colt Miranda Memorial Soccer Field Dedication: On Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 pm the dedication of the Colt Miranda Memorial Soccer Field will be held at the LaFleur Sports Complex in Lockhart (soccer fields behind the Jr. High School). No RSVP necessary. Just come if you can.

  • Attention Drivers Ed. students: The "A" group will meet this week Monday and Thursday. The "B" group will meet Tuesday and Friday. If you missed a day of drivers ed, you need to come one extra day this week to make up for your absence.

  • If you ordered a dog tag from AFJROTC please pick them up during A or B lunch.

  • The Roaring Lion Band Colorguard is holding a mini-camp for those interested in joining the Colorguard. It will be held at the Lockhart High School Band Hall on the following days:

    • Thursday, May 8 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm

    • Tuesday, May 13 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm

    • Wednesday, May 14 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm

  • The Awards Program will be in Lions Gym on Monday, May 19 at 7:00 pm. A list of students that should schedule to be at the Awards Program is posted outside the Counseling Center windows. The list can change daily, so check it every day to see if your name is there. Seating is available for the families of students on the list. See Ms. Capello or Ms. Hess with questions.

  • It's time for Powder Puff! Come to the front office now and sign up for your team. Tickets are $3.00 presale or $5.00 at the gate. Come by room 104 to buy your ticket today. The Powder Puff game will be held on Friday, May 23 at 4:30 pm at the football field.

  • Students: Please start turning in any textbooks you are not using to Ms. Guillory.

  • Nominate a teacher for Lion Pride Teacher of the Month! Teachers are some of the greatest people we know. Each month we will profile one outstanding teacher at Lockhart High School, and highlight their achievements. The Lion Pride Teacher of the Month has been established to recognize outstanding Lockhart High School teachers for their dedication, professionalism, and work. Teachers receiving this award will be nominated by the students, parents, educators, administrators, colleagues, and other community members - for excellence in their classroom and the school. Nomination forms are available at the front office and may also be accessed online. Eligibility requirements and the process for nomination are set forth in detail in the form available here. Please click here for more information. Note: this is a pdf file. You will need a fairly new version of Adobe Reader, a free program, to open this file. You can obtain this free program by going to www.adobe.com. If you receive a message saying the file is corrupt, this means you need to update your version of Adobe Reader. The most current version is 8.1.2.

  • Students, if you're needing a TEA Verification of Enrollment (VOE) form go by the front office and sign up no later than Wednesday of each week. The form will be ready for you to pick up on Thursday from Mrs. Ortiz. A TEA form is required to obtain a driver's permit, a driver's license, or license renewal if you are under the age of 18. Students must be in attendance for at least 90% of the days each class is offered and students must be cleared of all fees and fines before receiving a TEA form. There will be no exceptions.   • No one is allowed to leave campus without an ID! Remember: only Seniors are allowed to leave campus for lunch!

  • Students: Just a reminder that you must wear your student ID and it must be visible on a lanyard. The ID's are necessary so we know who is on our campus.

  • Tutorials take place Monday through Friday from 7:30 -7:55 am and from 3:25 - 4:00 pm in all High School classrooms. Teachers stay later and get here earlier if needed; some teachers tutor during their lunch period.

  • Students: It is your responsibility to turn in your note from the doctor or parent/guardian when you return to school from an absence. If you do not turn in your note, the absence will be counted as unexcused. Students who accumulate 3 or more unexcused absences will be issued a warning letter and if the unexcused absences persist, the student and parent/guardian will be required to attend truancy court. Students: remember to turn your notes in to Mrs. Wilhelm as soon as you return from an absence. Her office is next to the counseling center. Turn this note in before class starts. You will not be excused from class to go turn a note in. No one will ask you for your note. It is your responsibility to turn your note in to the Attendance Office.

  • Parents: Family Access is a web-based application that provides parents/guardians direct access to information such as grades, class schedules, attendance, and discipline issues for their students. To use Family Access, you must:

    Parents are welcome to sign in as a visitor in the front office and use a computer in the library for Family Access. If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Hilton at 398-0344.

Senior News:

  • Seniors: It is time to bring Ms. Hess any scholarships that you have received from the school you will be attending, or from a group or organization. These will be included in the graduation program! You can bring the original document or a copy.

  • Seniors: Make sure all your fees and fines are paid up. Check with Mrs. Ortiz in the front office to see if you are on the fees and fines list.

  • Attention Seniors: As the year is coming to a close, we would like to remember all of the wonderful times we have had in and outside of school through the senior slide show. Please turn in all pictures to Mrs. Yelverton in room 209 as soon as possible. On the back, the pictures must be labeled with your name, phone number, and homeroom teacher. Please make sure to turn in your pictures so they will be included in the slide show!

  • Attention All Seniors: Permission slips to attend Project Graduation must be turned in by May 20, 2008. If you are planning to attend, and want to be eligible for prizes during the event, please pick up a permission slip in the front office, have it signed and return it to the drop off box also located in the front office. Project Graduation representatives will also be available with permission slips at the Awards Program in Lions Gym on May 19 at 7:00 p.m. The all night, FREE, graduation party will be an evening full of fun and entertainment. Please join us in celebrating your special night.

  • Every senior that will attend any type of trade school, 2-year or 4-year college needs to complete the free financial aid form, the FAFSA, as soon as you can collect your 2007 income information. Worksheets for the FAFSA are at the Career Center. Please come by at your earliest convenience to pick up what you need to get money for college in the Career Center.

Junior News:

  • Project Graduation 2009 Parent Meeting: A parent meeting will be held on Monday, May 12, 2008, in the Conference Center at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss upcoming fund raisers for next years project graduation. Please make every effort to attend.

  • Attention Junior Class and Junior Class Parents: The Junior class will sell water bottles at graduation on May 30 as a fund raiser for next year’s Project Graduation. All Juniors are asked to bring a 24-pack of water for this fund raiser. The water bottles can be dropped off at Mr. Parrish’s classroom. We need everyone's support to help make this a successful fund raiser. If you would like to volunteer your time, please contact Nancy Ohlendorf or Leti Gonzales. Thanks.

  • Class of ’09 t-shirts are on sale in room 206 for $10.

Band News:

  • The LHS Band Banquet is Saturday, May 17 at 6:30 in the high school Cafetorium. The banquet is free for high school band members. Guests are $8. Band Members who plan to come need to sign up this week in the band hall.

  • Band Boosters will have it's monthly meeting Monday, May 12 at 7:00 in the high school band hall. All parents of band members in grades 6-12 are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Club Meetings and News:

  • Attention HOSA members: A final, mandatory meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 14 at 3:45 pm in room 502. Contact Ms. Hellerud or a HOSA officer for more information.

  • The Lockhart Speech & Drama Club will be meeting to elect officers for the 2008-2009 school year right after school on Tuesday, May 6 in Ms. T's room. The club and its activities will be going through a totally new transformation, so we hope you will attend Tuesday's meeting and be part of it.

  • Key Club meets on Mondays at 3:30 pm in room 103.

  • Student Council meets on Mondays at 7:00 pm and Tuesdays at 3:30 pm in room 105.

  • FCA meets on Mondays in room 614 at 7:30 pm after Student Council. Everyone is welcome.

  • German Club meets on Tuesdays in room 612 at 7:30 am/3:30 pm.

  • Lockhart Speech and Drama Club will meet Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 pm in Ms. T's room (901). Everyone interested in any part of Lockhart speech and drama is invited.

  • Art Animate Club meets on Tuesdays from 4:00 - 5:30 pm in room 105.

  • The Gospel Experience meets on Wednesdays at 3:45 pm in Coach Alfier's room (604). Come and work with us to see the gospel spread across the High School campus.

  • Spanish Club meets on Thursdays in room 609 at 3:30 pm.
