Dear Lockhart ISD Staff, Parents, and Community Members,

As this school year draws to its close, the LISD Board of Trustees wanted to provide an update on the search for Lockhart ISD’s new superintendent.

A total of 60 applications were submitted by the time the application period closed on Thursday, May 17. The Board will meet this week to review applications and determine potential candidates to interview. Those first rounds of interview will take place the first week of June.

There will be follow-up interviews the third week of June. Then, on Wednesday, June 27, the Board will vote to name a lone finalist. A period of 21 days must pass after naming the lone finalist before the Board will be able to officially vote to hire the new superintendent.

Once the Board names the lone finalist, the school district will do an announcement, sharing the information through the usual district communication channels, including the website, social media, email, and local media.

On Monday night, Superintendent Susan Bohn shared a heartfelt farewell message at her last Regular Board meeting in Lockhart ISD. We are grateful for the leadership she has provided and her role in establishing a culture of high expectations for all of our Lions, our staff, and the community. We wish her and her family the very best in their next chapter. Her last day will be Monday, June 4.

At that time, Kimberly Brents will assume leadership of the district as the interim superintendent, and the leadership team will continue the good work underway.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to congratulate all of our students on their hard work and tremendous growth this year. We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our #LISDChampions. We are also proud of our LISD staff, who committed themselves to our students and achieved significant results. Finally, we are grateful for the continued support of the school district and all of our Lions from our community.

Sincerely,

Brenda Spillmann

President

LISD Board of Trustees
