School resource officer assigned to Lockhart Junior High School arrested

Lockhart Police Department arrested School Resource Officer Chad Corbitt today for theft of a controlled substance from a clinic. When medication locked in the Lockhart Junior High School nurse’s office disappeared over the weekend, an investigation revealed Corbitt’s involvement.

Corbitt is a Lockhart Police Department officer who was assigned to Lockhart Junior High School as a school resource officer. The district has a partnership with LPD to provide safety and security support at both LJHS and Lockhart High School.

LPD has assigned a new officer to that role.

The district is unable to release any further details as this is an ongoing legal matter.

“I am grateful for our staff who, by following the processes we have in place, was able to discover the concern quickly and report it. We are grateful to LPD for their swift response and assistance in the investigation and assigning a new officer to the junior high school immediately,” said Superintendent Mark Estrada.
