Lockhart ISD celebrates staff achievements at annual employee recognition banquet

Lockhart Independent School District Board members, district leaders, and campus administrators honored staff at its annual employee recognition banquet Wednesday evening at Lockhart Junior High School. Honorees included staff with service milestones of 20 years and more, Teachers of the Year for each campus, Teachers of the Year for district for elementary and secondary campuses, Lion’s Heart Award winners, and retirees.

This year, LISD added a new award category called the “1.5 Champion Awards,” honoring teachers who have truly championed the district-wide focus to grow all learners by 1.5 years growth in reading and math this year.

Attendees began the evening with dinner and a musical performance by the Lockhart High School Choir before transitioning to the awards portion of the program. One by one, each honoree came forward to be recognized and was met with the applause of a grateful district for their contributions.

“The most important resource we have as a school district is our staff,” said Superintendent Mark Estrada. “Whether in the classroom, in an office, on a field, in a cafeteria, or on a bus, every single employee has the ability to positively impact our mission to grow future-ready students. Tonight, we honored the best among us, and Lockhart ISD is truly at an advantage because of their amazing talent, dedications, and contributions!”

One of the special parts of the evening was the official announcements of the District Teachers of the Year. Jonathan Gutierrez was honored as LISD Elementary Teacher of the Year. Jeffrey Baker was honored as LISD Secondary Teacher of the Year. Both gentleman will advance to compete for Regional Teacher of the Year.

“Our staff work incredibly hard and with great intention to serve our students,” added Estrada. “It’s a big reason why we are #LockhartLeading.”
