LISD earns ‘superior’ state rating for financial integrity

Lockhart Independent School District earned the rating of “superior” by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for financial integrity for the 15th year in a row. This is the highest of four rankings a public school district can earn from the Texas Education Agency’s Schools Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST).

Chief Financial Officer Tina Knudsen presented the TEA report at the regular meeting of the LISD Board of Trustees meeting on Monday. The financial accountability system encourages public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.

“The district is incredibly proud of the hard work of Mrs. Knudsen and her staff in excellent financial management of public resources to serve the students of our community,” said Superintendent Susan Bohn. “It is particularly impressive to have earned this rating during this historic period of rapid growth and so consistently throughout the years.”
