DECA students honored for achievements

DECA winners honored at LISD Board meeting

The DECA Career and Technical Student Organization was recognized by the LISD Board of Trustees at the meeting Monday evening. DECA, a marketing association, blasted off into another year of marketing, business, finance, and entrepreneurship that was out of this world.  Soaring to new heights in membership, DECA strives to grow the competitive team and overall impact of DECA at Lockhart High School and the community.


DECA had four students who represented Lockhart at District Competition.  The District Winners and State Qualifiers include:


1st Place District WINNERS in Entrepreneurship Promotional Plan

Team of:  Sayble Cardenas, Edith Cortez, and Amanda Ramos

1st Place District WINNER in Retail Merchandising Individual Series Event:

Lockhart Deca traveled to State Competition in March with four individuals.  Three out of the four placed at a State level and one advanced to International Competition. The State Winners and International Qualifiers include:


2nd Place State WINNER and INTERNATIONAL ALTERNATES in Entrepreneurship Promotional Plan,

Team of:  Edith Cortez, Amanda Ramos, and Sayble Cardenas

1st Place State WINNER and INTERNATIONAL QUALIFIER in Entrepreneurship Game Board Design:

Edith Cortez represented Lockhart DECA in Atlanta, Georgia, where she competed against twenty-two thousand other competitors.
