At Monday’s regular Board meeting, Lockhart Independent School District’s Board of Trustees recognized 17 Lockhart High School students for having scored in the top 10 percent of PSAT testers across the nation.

Honorees included:  Raegan Smith, Emilie Moneyhon, Kya Kenney, Josef Labermeyer, Shelby Kinsey, Kathryn Peterson, Kalob Reynero, Israel Reyes, Cassidy Wilson-Llamas, Briana Gonzales, Abigail Raxter, Stoney McGuire, Daniel Messinger, Jessica Sierra-Zavaleta, Tyler Stephenson , Trey Tamayo
and Megan Wheeler.

Each year, approximately 3.5 million students take the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) exam in the United States. In October, 250 LHS freshmen took the PSAT 8/9, and all sophomores and juniors took the PSAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).

“The Board of Trustees and all of us in Lockhart ISD are tremendously proud of these emerging scholars for their academic achievement and demonstrated high expectations of themselves,” said Superintendent Susan K. Bohn. “Our Lions are continuously setting the bar higher and higher, and we are proud to support them every step of the way.”

All LHS juniors will take the SAT exam for free March 7 at the campus. This is part of the school district’s strategies to promote a college-going culture and advance postsecondary readiness.
