Dear LISD Parents,

There was an incident at Clear Fork Elementary School this afternoon. This is information already shared with Clear Fork Elementary Parents. I am also sharing this with you because I think it is important.

Dear Clear Fork Elementary Parents,

The district has more information to share with you regarding this afternoon. This is a follow up to the phone call and email earlier.

At approximately 3:05 pm, during dismissal at Clear Fork Elementary, the principal was alerted by a parent that a person driving in front of the school appeared to be in possession of a gun in his car as he drove by.

Immediately, Principal Gudelman pulled all remaining students back inside. All students were safe and unharmed.

Lockhart Police Department was quickly on scene. When they confirmed  it was safe to release the remaining students, the campus did so. We are grateful to all of the parents who still needed to pick up their children for being patient as we kept children inside until the all clear from LPD.

What the district has learned is there is a dispute between the person spotted in the car with a gun and another adult who happens to be a parent of a student at Clear Fork. Law enforcement and district and campus administration have arranged for the person, who is the involved parent, to refrain from dropping off or picking up at the campus anymore. Additionally, the parent will not be on the campus at all for reasons of safety.

LPD continues its investigation,  which is not related to the school. The district cannot comment on any other details because it is an active investigation.

For tomorrow, LPD will be on scene in both the morning and afternoon drop offs and pick ups as an extra security measure.

We would like to thank the parent for quickly reporting seeing the individual with a gun, our staff for responding quickly to get children to immediate safety, the parents for their patience as we worked to keep children safe and work with law enforcement, and LPD for being on scene quickly and working to keep our students, parents, and staff safe.

If you have any concerns, as always, please contact me at
