Finance department secures honor 14th consecutive year

GFOA Certificate

Lockhart Independent School District’s finance department received the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR). This is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and reporting.

Of the 1,200 public school districts in Texas, only 80 earned this distinction. This is the 14th consecutive year LISD has secured this designation of excellence.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.

“The LISD finance department, under the leadership of Chief Financial Officer Tina Knudsen, continues to uphold the highest standards for financial management and reporting,” said Superintendent Mark Estrada. “Our school district is at an advantage with a solid financial foundation from which to operate the business of preparing students to be future-ready.”

The GFOA is a major professional association servicing the needs of nearly 20,000 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-appointed officials and other practitioners.
