Dear LISD Parents and Guardians,

In Lockhart ISD, we work daily to cultivate a culture of high expectations. This applies to staff and students alike, each of us continuous learners. To fulfill our highest potential, we must diligently strive to reach farther in all that we do.

Each year, the LISD district leadership team, in partnership with the LISD Board of Trustees, develops district targets. They guide our priorities in the district--in our budgeting, staffing, planning, training, instructional delivery, and monitoring. We know, as a district, when we establish targets and work intentionally and consistently to achieve them, our students grow and achieve highly.

At last night’s regular Board meeting, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction Dr. Stephaine Camarillo proposed, and the LISD Board adopted, the LISD district targets for 2018-2019.

Every student (grades K-8) will make 1.5 years growth in reading and in math in the 2018-2019 school year.

90 percent of students taking the English II STAAR EOC will meet STAAR progress measure requirements.

The expectation is that every student, from struggling learners to our advanced learners, will grow, and that every staff member will intentionally support our students to meet these targets. The leadership team is fully confident we will achieve this together.

Your child’s teacher will communicate with you throughout the year on your child’s progress towards these targets, and each student in grades K-8 will have a growth chart attached to their report cards at the end of each semester this year. At the district level, we will monitor progress across LISD to ensure we remain on track, and in those cases where we struggle, work to quickly make adjustments to support success. Additionally, the district leadership team will share monthly updates with the Board on our progress towards the district targets.

Together, we continue our upward trajectory-- #LockhartLeading!

Regards,

Mark Estrada
