The Lockhart ISD Board recognized the Lockhart FFA for their accomplishments this spring. The mission of the Lockhart FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agriculture education.
Their motto is:
Learning to do,
Doing to learn,
Earning to live,
Living to serve.
The students involved in Lockhart FFA truly exemplify its mission and motto, quite visible in our school district, and indeed the community, as cream of the crop leaders & confident and competitive #LISDChampions. The Board recognized this group in three different areas: Stock Shows, Speaking Development Events, and Career Development Events.
STOCK SHOWS: For Lockhart FFA, membership, contest entries, and animals on feed continue to rise each year. Just 4 years ago, they did not have a single entry in a stock show. This year, they had the largest turn out of student participation of showing livestock. They had 9 entries at the San Antonio Livestock Show, 22 at the Houston Livestock show and over 50 exhibitors at the county stock show in March.

Speaking Development Events, or SDEs, are designed to develop students abilities to express themselves through public speaking on a given subject and research. Students develop
public speaking skills and learn how to formulate answers for their presentation in response to the topic they wrote a research paper over, and delivered to judges.

Career Development Events are designed to help a member prepare for a career in agriculture by testing and challenging the student's technical, leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills as well as their knowledge of the subject matter. The variety of these contests answer the question, "When & how will I use this knowledge in the real world?" CDEs are events that lets members put their knowledge learned in classes into real life situations. This spring they traveled over a combined total 5,120 miles across Texas, and competed against 100’s of teams at various contests. In the fall, Lockhart FFA won sweepstakes for Leadership Development Events and was shy only 2 points of winning District CDE Sweepstakes this Spring!
