Message from the Superintendent
Welcome to Lockhart ISD, centrally located in Caldwell County. Lockhart is rich in history and traditions and is a very friendly community. We are 30 minutes southeast of Austin and only 20 minutes away from the Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Our school district is over 300 square miles and has 8 major campuses, an alternative high school, competitive athletics and co-curricular activities for students, and a very active community education program.
We are proud of our schools, our awesome students, and talented and dedicated staff. We have over 5,300 students and over 670 staff in the 2014-2015 school year. We offer a very competitive pay and benefits plan for our staff. Our District Met Standard on state-standardized tests as reported in the 2015 Texas Academic Performance Report.
Our student enrollment is experiencing a moderate-to-high growth pattern. Because of this growth pattern, Lockhart ISD voters passed a $63.9 million bond package in May 2014. The bond program includes major renovations and expansions to Lockhart High School, an additional elementary school, and improvements to the other campuses. We broke ground on the High School improvements in May 2015, and the project is expected to last about 2-1/2 years. We are in the process of finalizing the land purchase for the new elementary school, which will be located in Lytton Springs, Texas. Lytton Springs has a large number of students that are currently bussed into Lockhart. This school will provide an opportunity for the students to have reduced times on busses and to go to school closer to their home.
We hope that you will choose to settle your family and your children in Lockhart ISD to experience all that our schools have to offer.
Celebrate. Innovate. Redefine Possible.
