Coaches Profile

LJHS Girl's Athletic Coordinator: Tamar Collins

I am originally from Seaside, California. I attended Seaside High School, and I’m a proud graduate of the class of 1993. Throughout high school I played varsity volleyball, basketball, and softball. Since I come from a family of softball players and coaches, I chose to continue playing softball while attending the University of Texas. I graduated with a BS degree in Kinesiology/All Level Certification (Fall 1997). I began my teaching and coaching career at Pearce Middle School (AISD). In August 2003, I decided to leave AISD and join the LISD family, as a 6th grade Physical Education teacher/coach. Over the past 8 years, I have successfully coached 7th & 8th grade volleyball, basketball, track, and tennis. I am currently coaching 7th grade volleyball and 7th & 8th grade (girls & boys) tennis. In the past, before I decided to begin a family, I also coached at UT’s summer volleyball camps, and an Austin based club volleyball team. I used to believe that the accomplishment I was most proud of was playing softball at UT and consistently earning a 3.40 GPA throughout college. I now know that my most astounding and most rewarding accomplishment is being a supportive, patient mother. My daughter Imani and my son Eric are everything I ever dreamed of and more. I know that being a mother is the most important job that I will ever have in my life.

My favorite quote is “Hakuna Matata” which means “No Worries”.

Stefani Stone

I coach 7th and 8th grade girls Cross Country and Soccer at LJHS. In addition, I am a high school assistant coach for boys and girls Soccer. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Education. I have been playing soccer my entire life. I played stopper and fullback for Klein High School and a club team out of the Houston area. After high school, I decided to take a break from soccer, started running for physical activity, and I haven’t stopped since. I love the coaching opportunities that have come my way at Lockhart Junior High and the wonderful athletes that I am fortunate enough to get to work with each and every day.

She has experience in high school athletics playing varsity basketball and being involved in soccer and volleyball. This year, Ortiz will lead the 8th grade “B” basketball team and in track, the long, high and triple jumpers. She looks forward to great seasons with all the athletes, as well as the community.
